The Position

As part of the Pilot Plant team, the Biotechnician (USP) supports the development of processes for the manufacturing of recombinant proteins with CHO cultures by executing pilot batch runs, preparing materials, collecting data and sharing knowledge with manufacturing teams.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conducts manufacturing activities at pilot scale and applies standard laboratory practices under guidance and supervision within scope and timelines
  • Supports technology transfer activities and shares knowledge with manufacturing team
  • Documents executed work in accordance to internal guidelines
  • Supports troubleshooting activities in collaboration with Subject Matter Expert
  • Documents batch results with a critical mind
  • Writes protocols, SOPs, using available templates
  • Drives simple initiatives (in relation to job duties) with limited guidance and supervision within his/her team/group
  • Ensures consistent application of EHS standards in daily laboratory operations, supports colleagues in following safety procedures, and contributes to improving the overall safety and housekeeping practices in the laboratory

Job Requirements

  • Preparation of media and buffers, including pH adjustment, sterile filtration, and accurate weighing
  • Aseptic techniques and working in biosafety cabinets
  • Operation, basic troubleshooting and maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Sample handling and preparation (e.g., clarification, sterile filtration, buffer exchange)
  • Use of general analysis instruments (e.g., automated cell counters, osmolality and metabolite analysers, spectrophotomer, pH meter etc.)
  • Data collection and report writing, confident in the use of IT tools
  • Good understanding of GMP practices and constraints at manufacturing scale
  • Basic troubleshooting and maintenance of bioreactors,  ATFs and support systems
  • Excellent communication skills (English required, German is a plus)
